Diving into a Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have discovered numerous entertaining independent titles. Yet, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure includes a protagonist that is literally a dung striving to travel to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: you only need a single jump button. Throughout numerous challenges, you'll face tough enemies and access a shop to acquire outfits for your dung hero.

Plan your jumps precisely, since one wrong move forces restarting the level. Jump on bubbles to hurl yourself upward, navigate disappearing platforms, and touch triggers to unlock secret routes. Earn currency and use them on tougher game content in which gameplay gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo boasts vibrant stages and a killer soundtrack. Its minimalist art of shifting abstract forms may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

While it's tough to recall previous releases where you are a coiled turd, gaming frequently featured scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from character waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content is present heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its silly premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, including winning at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to launch on Steam this November.
