Explore 29 Fresh Cards from Magic: The Gathering's TMNT Expansion (Including a Commander Precon Deck!)

Everyone's favorite pizza-eating heroes are making their way to the popular trading card game. The popular TCG's company, Wizards of the Coast, revealed a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion during a special panel held at NYCC. Could this be a exciting new set or yet another Universes Beyond cash grab? We'll let you decide.

Take a look below at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful context. Everything listed below launches on March 6, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27.

Magic x TMNT: Main Set Cards

Before we get into the many special decks and collections on offer, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per pack.

Let’s explore a few surprising details. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak Attack, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu, where players can cheat powerful creatures onto the battlefield when an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The key change here is that this new ability can apply to spells that aren’t creatures as well. Wizards also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a little (Sneak is treated as playing a spell, unlike the older mechanic). The original ability is staying, but it's more likely players will encounter the new mechanic in upcoming expansions moving forward.

“If we ever were to return to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu because that plane is it originated and it’s a hallmark to that,” a senior game designer stated. “But in other settings, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable that we'd use the updated version.”

That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four cards with unique artwork created specifically for the set by TMNT original artist Kevin Eastman.

Oh, and, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play cards outside of your main deck, so was I. But as per the developers, that's now a official card in every format of Magic.

In any case, below are the extremely bizarre full-art lands from this set:

Following Wizards of the Coast's existing guidelines, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers say they were careful to ensure the new cards and gameplay elements meshed well with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.

“I led the design for over a year and we knew it would be Standard-legal and what other sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer says. “Our goal was to make sure that they work well with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”

For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a blue-red archetype built around artifact cards.

“They combine to provide the components for a fun Standard-legal deck,” he added.

Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!

After declining to design any Commander precons for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards who could work as your Commander depending on how you pair them (five of the cards have a special Partner mechanic called “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command zone rather than just one). Take a look for yourself:

The Turtle Power precon is priced at $69.99, although the price may rise based on demand. Sources indicated that it includes 43 brand-new cards in total, which means an extra 37 TMNT-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary creatures pictured earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests approximately 20 reprinted cards if we estimate the precon includes 37 land cards.)

How will the Turtles version of the iconic Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Standard Bundle (Standard Edition)

As per usual, Wizards is selling a bundle. It costs $69.99 and includes the listed items:

  • 9 Play Boosters
  • 15 Traditional foil basic lands
  • 15 Regular basic lands
  • 2 helper cards
  • 1 Foil promotional card
  • One Large spindown life counter
  • One storage box

Pizza Bundle

This is a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it comes in what looks like a pizza box. Every Pizza Bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the items below:

  • 9 Play Boosters
  • 1 Premium Booster
  • Twenty-five Non-foil pizza lands
  • 5 Foil pizza basic lands
  • 2 Foil Pizza Bundle promo cards
  • 2 Reference cards
  • One Large life tracker
  • 1 storage box

For those curious about the “pizza bundle promo” is, it’s basically a reprinted older card with brand-new TMNT art. Wizards showed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter adding black licorice pieces onto a pizza. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos available.

This special bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Bundle

This special bundle is designed for a four-person draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:

  • 12 Play Boosters (the perfect amount four people to play draft)
  • One Collector Booster (also known as, the prize for winning)
  • 90 Regular basic lands (to build your draft deck)
  • Ten Non-foil double-sided tokens
  • 1 drafting guide (a single-page guide to drafting this expansion)

Cooperative Play Set

Finally, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic products aimed at new players. In this case, the cooperative set is a unique product of prebuilt decks that let you and a friend team up against a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.

The general idea here that each Boss card grants special abilities to the creature cards contained in the Boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card per turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
