Pupils Share Worries That AI Is Weakening Their Study Skills, Study Shows

Based on new investigation, students are voicing concerns that utilizing AI is weakening their ability to engage academically. A significant number complain it makes schoolwork “overly simple”, while a portion say it hinders their creativity and stops them from learning new skills.

Widespread Use of AI Among Learners

A report looking at the utilization of AI in British learning centers found that merely 2% of students between the ages of 13 and 18 stated they did not use AI for their schoolwork, while four-fifths said they regularly employed it.

Adverse Influence on Abilities

Regardless of artificial intelligence's widespread use, 62% of the students reported it has had a negative effect on their abilities and development at school. 25% of the respondents agreed that AI “facilitates accessing solutions without independent work”.

Another 12% reported AI “hinders my original thought”, while comparable figures stated they were less prone to tackle challenges or produce innovative text.

Roughly half of the numerous students questioned reported they were anxious their peers were “secretly using AI” for schoolwork without their educators being able to identify it.

Call for Support and Positive Components

Yet, the majority of students stated using artificial intelligence aided them gain fresh abilities, such as 18% who indicated it assisted them understand challenges, and 15% who stated it assisted them generate “original and superior” thoughts.
