Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former mentor Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He saved four early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
