Top-ranked Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Awards.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in tournament winnings.

She garnered nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".

Other WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking a extended hiatus after the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
