Trump Business Attempted to Bring In Nearly 200 Workers on Visas in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity accelerated its recruitment of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, even as his government was placing obstacles for other businesses wanting to do the same, a report released Thursday claimed.

According to information from the federal labor department, the business sought to hire at least nearly 200 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The quantity of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for staff including servers, clerks, cleaning staff, kitchen staff and farm workers was the record filed by the organization, and up from 121 in 2021, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that Trump had attempted to hire over a hundred overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, according to labor statistics.

The revelation comes amid a tightening on legal immigration by his government that has included the implementation of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and reporters.

In total, the business aimed to employ over 560 overseas workers over the period the former president has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this week for comments defending the need for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill particular roles.

“You cannot just say a country is coming in, going to invest $10bn to construct a plant, and going to take people off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he told a interviewer after she suggested that overseas employees lower the pay of American employees.

The administration refused a inquiry for comment, and the business did not provide an answer to an inquiry.
