Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
